Birth is such a sacred, transformational and sometimes frightening experience but, with the right people supporting you, it can be such a positive and sometimes entertaining event! We were lucky enough to have Bec as our doula present before and at our birth. From the moment I met bec for a chai to the ‘big day’ I felt in very good hands with her natural desire to nurture and her fabulous sense of humour making us feel so at ease, I knew she was the perfect addition to myself and my partner, Rod, in welcoming our son into the world. Bec was incredibly intuitive of what was needed and offered support and advice in such a way that was non judgmental and very informative. She attended the birth when we were in the hospital giving Rod and I time and space to get into the birthing suite and find a rhythm as the contractions slowly grew stronger. She really honoured the process, my partners role as primary birth partner and supported us in just the way we needed. Thanks to Bec we also have the birth documented with some incredible photos taken throughout, something we will cherish always as a reminder of how amazing our bodies are the the beautiful journey of childbirth. Bec’s involvement was a gift to us and from it has started a friendship. If you need support for your birth look no further ❤️- Lucy
Bec and I met at creche when we were one and have been friends ever since. What better person to have by my side as a friend and doula during the birth of my first baby. In the lead up, it was wonderful to be able to talk to someone so knowledgable about birth to help demystify the experience I was about to go through. During the birth, it was comforting to know Bec would not only support me but also my partner and the unreal experience he was going through. She was there every step of the way, keeping me calm during the most painful parts. After the birth, Bec wrote up our birth story - invaluable as I certainly couldn’t remember everything that happened at such a special time for my family. She also took some great photos during the night which are fun (if not a bit scary) to look back on. I came away from my first birth experience thinking it really wasn’t as bad as I had thought it would be and I am sure Bec had a lot to do with that. - Kate
"As my Doula, Bec was just incredible. She provided such gentle care and support throughout our birthing experience. From running those last minute errands for supplies once labour started, to holding space along side my partner Nathan and affirming to me through the waves of contractions that I was strong & could get through each one.
From early on in the pregnancy my partner Nathan & I were very passionate about pursuing a natural home-birth. With the perspective of already going through labour and birth five years prior with my daughter Talon, I came to the conclusion early on that I wanted a Doula to assist us throughout the birthing experience and Bec was the perfect Doula to have at hand!
From the moment I contacted Bec to let her know labour had begun she held a nurturing presence. When she arrived she assisted with my 5 year old daughter in the early stages of labour, which was reassuring to know she felt safe and cared for.
Throughout labour Bec weaved herself flawlessly in and out of the space which Nathan & I were in as contractions came and went providing a quiet assurance through the entire process. She offered us both continuous support and I feel that my strength was aided by the calm and centred presence of Bec. Our birthing journey to welcome our daughter, Zimra into the world in a water home-birth went perfectly. Having Bec working along side my partner Nathan meant that unending confidence, support and love was provided through some of the most difficult moments and I would highly recommend her as a calm, nurturing and most caring Doula birth support." - Maryse
"Bec was my doula for the birth of my son in September, 2015. There are many things I am proud of surrounding my pregnancy and the birth. The two biggest are, that I chose my birth support team so well and that I trusted my body, my baby and my instincts, and had the amazing, intense homebirth I had wanted for us. I couldn't have trusted myself so completely without my midwife and my doula's trust in me and in the birthing process. During my pregnancy Bec was always supportive of my choices and created a space where I could talk about anything. Bec was a calm and solid presence during the birth of my son, she attended both my husband and I, and took amazing photos, which I will treasure always. Her visits during my early post partum were a soft blessing in amongst the crazy hormonal weeks of getting the hang of feeding and looking after a new little person. I can't confine the gift of Bec's presence to words on a screen, they just don't do her justice. The best thing you can do as a mama on the way to meeting your first little love, or your fifth, is to get the best support, and Bec was that for us." ~ Rian.
